Khmer Wedding Preparation Process

 When a young man falls in love with a young woman, he confirms his love to his parents for acknowledgement/agreement and coordination. As time comes for the wedding, the groom is so busy with his preparation.

A-The bride side:

-wedding ring for the groom

-bedroom ready for the new couple

-some gifts for the maids

-personal necessary items ready

B-The bride’s family:

-select wedding invitation card sample and its quality for printing, make a good bargain.

-guest record book for evening party contribution

-select cosmetics/make-up company and hire wedding costumes for the whole process of wedding

-new family clothes/costumes

-looking for 3 bride maids of reputed families

-costumes for maids be ready (from company)

-Fees for Khmer traditional music, comedians, orchestra and food

-house decoration or hire decoration specialists

-Build wedding place at home or looking for/rent wedding building

-discussing about kinds of food, beers/wine/refreshment to be selected

-wedding cake/fruits cake

-camera and video rented during engagement or said whole process.

-transportation to wedding location

 

C-For the groom:

-engagement ring and wedding ring at the ceremony

-finding 3 groom maids for the wedding day

-prepare himself to live at the bride home along with personal belongings.

-If you prepare yourself for honeymoon outside the country? if so contact tourist agency.

D-The groom family:

-New clothes, jewelry

-transportation and accommodation to bride family (if they are from province)

-Party before the wedding ??

E-Time table before the wedding

Experienced older people and priests give wedding instructions to the families
